| Driving Instructions: Form down town Christchurch, drive south on Colombo St, turn right on to Moorhouse. Drive 1.5 km west on Moorhouse to a set of lights, turn to the left onto Lincoln. At 4.1 km you will drive through a set of lights and onto Highway 75, Halswell Rd is the main road to Akaroa Harbour. At 8.3 km there is a very busy cross road. You need to drive across and over to Kennedy's Bush Rd. At 1.5 km you then turn in to Halswell Quarry. |

Tracks, viewing points and three car parking areas have made the park increasingly popular for walking and other recreational activities over the last decade. Halswell Quarry is a unique 60.4 hectare park, with an unusual combination of recreational walks, historic sites and botanical collections. Important historic buildings, parkland of short walks and wetland ponds. |
| Area & Track History: Halswell Quarry, which played a major role in the development of Christchurch, ceased production in 1990 after 140 years of quarrying. Its fine blue-grey stone can be seen in many of the city's prominent buildings including the Canterbury Museum and Provincial Council Buildings. |
